Eat Pray Love

Life's little pleasure are moments like this.

A quiet Sunday noon with the backdrop of endless pelting tiny raindrops. I put on the burner, dripped in the rose essence. The one which I bought since my teen years, the one that my bedroom during my growing years smell off.

I snuggled in comfortably on my white sofa, cupped with a refreshing drink (pineapple juice + lychee... which I managed to tear apart the can very carefully with a swiss knife. I need to buy a can opener!) and on the other hand a very good book - Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert.

Its a great read! I am just at chapter 27 (there's 108 very short chapters, structured the same way as a 'buddhist beads' which is always strung with 108 beads) and I've not been able to put the book down since I started.

Its about the journey of a woman in search for the meaning of her life. Right after a very tremulous time, a divorce, a break up and bouts of depressions, she had series of encounters which prompted her to plan the journey as she had made it.

I particularly liked (up to where I am reading now) the part where she exclaimed the coincidence of the 'I's. She was ready to go on a voyage of self-discovery, therefore, Liz was on her way explore the art of pleasure in Italy, the art of devotion in India and in Indonesia, the art of balancing the two. All 3 countries begins with an I which carved the journey for Liz to find herself! Voila!

Touchingly, I could relate myself very much to the thoughts and feelings captured in this book.

Alright, I shall not tell too much. My dear readers, especially all bellas, do try to get your hands on this read.

Books : Night & World Is Flat

Books again!

1) Night

Author : Elie Wiesel

I am half way through the book and it is really a captivating but disturbing read. It is indeed important for us to know the other extreme opposite of humanity that could be inherent in us depending on choices and consciences.

2) The World Is Flat

Author : Thomas L. Friedman

I have not started on it yet. Bought this book because it is the bestseller now. I am really quite a sucker for these marketing antics. But wait, let me have a read and we shall know.

Well, on the second reason that spurred me to buy this book cuz I really thought I should read it. Its about Globalisation. And I think I will soon be zaboomed in a way into globalisation with my moving.

Well, it could also be just an excuse to fill up my bookcase with intelligent looking books or to give me more ideas so that I can continue my charade to converse intelligently like an adult.

I can't help to suspect that I am always a 18-year-old, unfortunately trapped in a growing and aging body.

Still as contradictory as ever...

And damn, I can't find the picture of the bookcover to beautify my blog.

Books : 1000 Places To See Before You Die

Just bought this book last nite!

"Life is not measure by the number of breaths we take but by the places and moments that take our breath away" - anonymous

Interesting - just wanna see whether do I feel the same when visiting the places they mentioned. Every experience of a place is rather personal I guess.

You can either love it or hate it.

For me, I've been blessed to see the vast world and have loved every single moments and treasured every single picture that has been captured via my eyes.

I just wish to share. And to inspire others what I see thru my eyes... the way it has inspired me.

Can't help it but I must say - last nite while queueing to pay for this book in Borders, just 2 more before my turn, a guy turn around (quite cute!) and passed me a 30% discount voucher! Yippee, made my day ;) (I know its small savings, but cheap thrills and I just loved em!)

And then Yeni who was also buying the same book, got her little thrills just right on our turn at the cashier. An angel (lady!) gave her an extra voucher she had.

So both of us did our little hop-kick-twiggle under the spotlights of Orchard Road.

** She chuckled!

1) To Kill A Mockingbird

Author : Nelle Harper Lee
Written : 1962

Wow, did a search on google to read some reviews and found this cool site,
To Kill A Mockingbird - A Student Survival Guide
- Here one can find the explanation of the difficult words that Harper use in her book.

Also, read this review.

2) Borges : Collected Fictions

Author : Jorge Luis Borges
Written : 1935 - 1983

Highly recommended by a friend, Mark.

I'll post my thoughts after finishing these books.

Happy reading!
